Its Super Bowl Weekend

Well, there it is folks. Another football season here and gone with THE game of all games to finish us off again: The Super Bowl.

A much more confident me was feeling halfway decent about possibly watching my Jaguars play in this one after watching Trevor Lawrence do #1 draft pick things and leading them back from being down 27-0 against the Chargers. Easily one of the top 5 football games I have been to in person. (I also got to go to New Orleans back in September to witness FSU hold on to win vs LSU with that blocked extra point at the end of the game. Probably making that game my favorite game that I have seen in person for sure.) As a side note, I am proud of the Jaguars for turning around a season that seemed doomed after losing 5 straight weeks, to only losing by one score to the Chiefs a couple of weeks ago. Making it almost as far into the playoffs as the year of the BOAT, 2017.

But, lo and behold we have a matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. Two teams trying to win their second respective Super Bowls in the past 5 years and, possibly another notch in the belt for Patrick Mahomes, the only player who seems to have the best chance of catching Brady. (I still think the Belichick/Brady dominance will never be touched, but Andy and Pat have something special cooking in KC). The other QB, Jalen Hurts, is a player that I respect too much to ever cheer against because he seems like one of the more hardworking and genuine leaders to play the game. This goes all the way back to how he handled being benched at Alabama for Tua in the SEC championship one year and then, without complaint, putting that team on his absurdly strong legs the next year to come back and win against UGA in the SEC championship game after Tua got hurt. Being a Heisman runner up the next season for the University Oklahoma earned him the 53rd overall pick spot in the 2020 draft and the rest is history.

We should be able to look forward to a good game and I really hope for some good commercials too. Which seem to have lost a bit of their luster as of late with early leaks and just, lazy comedy or celebrity cameos driving them. There probably will be some more clydesdale and dog commercials or some patriotic truck ones (I think that Ford will have some big commercials, especially pushing the electric F-150 which they are basically building a city to produce.) But none will reach levels of those who came before, like the run Dorito’s had with the time machine or the classic line, “Don’t touch my momma, and don’t touch my Dorito’s.”

Chris Stapleton singing the nation anthem along with the first ever all woman flyover and RIHANNA for the halftime show. Just say tell me and where, I will be there. It should be a great show and the plan at my house tonight is to make a big pot of chili, have some Miller Lite, and just soak up the last football game until fall. I predict its going to be fun with two young exciting QB’ helping to usher in this new post – Brady – Roesthlisberger – Manning – Brees era of the NFL and I am here for it. It could turn into a boat race with the talent level of both offenses and both rosters and coaching staffs have future HOFer’s sprinkled into them. What more could you ask for?

Final Prediction: Eagles 31 – Chiefs 30. Late TD, 2 point conversion by Hurts with seconds left to win the game. And I think it will be an Orange gatorade bath. (Also: Kelce anytime TD, Jalen Hurts anytime TD, maybe even sprinkle Eagles over 1.5 rushing TD’s..? Responsibly of course. Oh and Tails for the coinflip, why not?)

Fly Eagles fly.
