Hello and welcome to my blog.
Today I sit in my cube in Tallahassee, FL with an urge to write something. I’m a simple man, I like to cook, I like sports (Go Noles), I like movies, and I like playing video games. So clearly, my voice must be heard! And this is my chosen medium.
No, but really, I just want to tap back into working on something that’s less ‘work’ and more just a fun challenge. These blogs will go along with absolutely zero agenda and will run the gamut of topics. My hope is that maybe a couple of people read these blogs and think, “That was worth the read.” Maybe someone likes it enough to share it with some friends… Maybe I can grow it enough to have something to offer for, I dunno, some big media company or something…
Not that I like, have any dream jobs in mind or anything *COUGH* VIVA.

But back to the real blog, I never really paid any mind to creative writing growing up until one teacher opened my mind a little bit, shout out to teachers by the way. In literature class we did a lot of timed writing essays on various prompts, I would finish them and never failed, but I never really paid any mind to the results because I was really more interested in other subjects. Eventually, towards the end of the year she walked over to me with one of these essays that I supposedly did a good job with, and she paused to tell me, “Garrett, you really ought to think about writing. Just keep an open mind.” I’ll be honest, at the time I took the compliment, but I didn’t really pay it any mind. I just moved on with my time.
Even in college I never took many creative courses. Nor did I give myself the liberty to explore other career paths in this world. FSU gave me a lot of new friends, a lot of hangovers, and a lot of memories that have totally reformed my perspective, despite still being in my hometown. Things changed for me, people moved away, baseball was replaced with beer league softball, and I even had to shave my head. (I should have shaved way earlier on, but that is a story for another time.)
After college I would get the urge here and there to read and write. I even got into poetry for a little bit. But my interests still remained largely on hunting with some friends, playing video games, and trying to find a job. Eventually, I got into cooking and that has become a small passion of mine and that has carried my creative appetite for a while…until today.
When this site asked me to identify a genre for my blog (lifestyle, sports, politics, etc.), I couldn’t decide on what to click on. I will probably meander into many different topics of discussion as this blog grows older, so only time will tell. I am open to suggestions, and I’m looking forward to see where this goes.
And now, ‘lettuce’ begin…
